In our society, it is too easy to separate ourselves from the bad things that happen in our world. Often, out of sight means out of mind and we can quickly push aside our motivation to take action once something is no longer directly in front of us. With so much media fighting for our attention, it takes a concentrated effort on our part to stay focused on the things that God cares about.
Throughout the coming days, we will be learning about a few different injustices, all equally brutal. Today’s action is a challenge to intentionally remember and pray for injustice in our world and specifically Cambodia.
We are asking you to set an alarm on your phone, watch or MP3 player that will go off at the same time every day. When you hear the alarm, take a minute to pray about the focus issue that you are reading about that day or another that comes to your mind. After pausing to pray about this issue, take it one step further and share something about the issue with some- one else. You can talk to a friend, a co-worker or a family member about what you are learning. You can post something on Twitter or Facebook to remind others that there are people in our world that need our attention. The goal is to not just be consumers of the information but to participate in the process of spreading awareness and education to others in your circle.
“Because of the oppression of the weak and the groaning of the needy, I will now arise,” says the Lord. “I will protect them from those who malign them.” Psalm 12:5
